Welcome, movie buffs and dog lovers alike, to a cinema experience like no other! Today, we're thrilled to unveil our Oscar nominees for the prestigious PupStride's Oscar for Canine Best Actor. These four-legged maestros have stolen our hearts and lit up the screen in 2023's most memorable movies.

Our Oscar Nominees:

Black Beanie/Santana, Tai, Sam 7, Boyca, and Ikar

Movie: John Wick 4

In the heart of the action-packed John Wick 4, these five Belgian Malinois elevate the definition of loyal companionship to a cinematic masterpiece. Supporting the Tracker (Shameir Anderson), they display a repertoire of skills, from fetching and speaking to fearlessly protecting, proving that they are action stars in their own right.

Gonker/Unnamed Good Boy

Movie: Dog Gone

In the dramatic embrace of the heartfelt Dog Gone, our unnamed Labrador Retriever steps into the spotlight as the "Daniel Day-Lewis of dog actors," according to co-star Rob Lowe. His ability to convey emotions through dramatic faces almost transforms this corny, cheesy tale into a heartwarming journey, making us root for his safe return home. Almost.

Cosmo the Space Dog/Slate

Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3

Slate, our unsung hero in the cosmic adventure of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, serves as the physical model for Cosmo the Space Dog. Initially cast in a larger role, Slate's overwhelming cuteness becomes a charming distraction for director James Gunn. Nevertheless, her presence elevates her into a star in her own right.

Reggie/Sophie

Movie: Strays

Reggie, embodied by the talented Sophie, a border terrier, takes us on a journey into the world of Strays (viewer discretion advised). Borrowing the voice of Will Ferrell, Sophie's portrayal of Reggie, a disgruntled and raunchy puppy with a vengeance towards her neglectful ex-owner, is a testament to her ability to balance loyalty and a wild, untamed spirit. I suppose fear of a revenge plot is another reason not to leave your puppy alone!

Good Luck Oscar Nominees!

As we applaud these canine virtuosos, let's celebrate the joy and laughter they've brought into our lives. Stay tuned for more updates and, who knows, maybe a winner's circle for one lucky pup!
